Site with loading docks — a queue on the LED panel instead of calls to dispatch

When deliveries are scheduled by phone, dispatch is on the line all day. Here the order is handled on an LED panel and the system knows on its own which dock is free.

The brief

A manufacturing and warehouse site with heavy goods traffic. Vehicles arrive at the loading docks, but dock capacity is limited and, without management, the queue forms right at the gate, where it blocks everyone else.

The operation also works with its own order reference numbers, which have to be recorded for every delivery. The driver must enter them during registration and the system has to store them together with the rest of the record.

Solutions

A complete e-Vrátnice with turnstiles for pedestrians and barriers for vehicles, extended with yard management. After processing, the vehicle is logged in the parking area and waits until a dock frees up.

At regular intervals the LED panel cycles through the licence plates of the vehicles in the queue together with the number of the gate they should pull up to. The driver can see when it's their turn without calling anyone.

The kiosk registration form is customised: it includes a field for the order reference number in the format the customer uses and a note of where the goods were loaded. All fields are mandatory, so no incomplete records arise.

What the customer gets out of it

The queue has moved from the gate to the holding area, and the entrance stays clear.

Dispatch no longer fields "when can I go to the dock" calls — the answer is on the panel.

The reference numbers are in the records for every delivery, so they can be matched to the order.
